New Beginnings

Hey Guys

Happy New Year!

Optimism and endless possibilities are things that we would like to envision at the  start of a new year.  Cast away the old memories and bad decisions because we are ready for much needed changes.  Some of us make resolutions or a list to be better, do better and make ourselves feel better.  There are always things that we want or need to improve upon in our lives, hence, our goals for the new year.

With all the social revelations and restrictions, losses, and isolations in 2020, there were many posts on social media denouncing the previous year.  However, for some of us, 2020 is forever engrained in our memories because parts of our hearts are inhabited there.

A look back at 2020 revealed a year unlike any other during my lifetime.  While it brought us a lot of sorrow and pain, to some extent, it humbled us.  Initially, nervous about leaving the house, leery of any interaction with a potentially infected person, and some afraid to even look at a passerby.  We watched our fellow Americans around the world line up for food on feet and in cars while others struggled to maintain a roof over their head.

The year 2020 also spotlighted the realization of the systemic economic and racial disparities that have long existed, albeit unacknowledged, in our society – An unfair socioeconomic system which resulted in social contagion and illuminated the differences between race and class.

My plan for 2021 is to be optimistic, realistic, and open-minded and hope that others do the same.  Personally, I am looking forward to travelling later in the year when it’s safe to do so and interacting with family, friends, and new acquaintances.

Well what’s a single person looking for a connection to do in these circumstances?  Not quite sure but will certainly keep you posted.

Before I leave, I want to highlight a few great moments in 2020 – My dad celebrated his 92nd birthday.  I saw the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Kennedy Center, and also did some sightseeing in Phoenix Arizona.  I also witnessed and will also share with you the incredible talent of Liv Warfield at Wolf Trap – Enjoy!

Stay healthy and safe my friends.  Also, stay tuned for my safe, new adventures of being single in a pandemic.

Peace and love,

Lee
